The Era of BLDC Fans

In previous years we saw a major transition from incandescent bulbs to LED, which was implemented to achieve huge reduction in power consumption. It came out to be as a revolutionary as any new technology in the market. Working of An Induction Motor

The induction fan comprises two main components which are: Stator and Rotor.
The stator and rotor have windings on them, which generates an electric flux whenever current is passed through them. The current flows through the coil depending on the arrangement of the stator and rotor. The rotation moment takes place by generating a magnetic field in this sequence, which causes the motor to rotate. The speed of the induction fans can be controlled using a regulator, which are of two types: Resistance based and Modern Regulators.

BLDC fans differ from original DC fans in their commutation method, it takes the AC voltage and converts it into DC using SMPS. The BLDC fans have no brushes, so commutation is done using the driving algorithm in the electronics. The BLDC motor is more rugged for long term use as the commutators wouldn’t undergo wear and tear. BLDC technology owes its efficiency and performance to the combinational use of permanent magnets and electronics. It comprises of three components, which are: Stator, Rotor, and Electronics.

Power consumption is less in the BLDC fans due to the usage of permanent magnets, the electronic circuit allows several additional features like sleep mode, timer mode and compatibility with home automation systems.
